Wastewater

Case History 1015

Problem:

A Southeastern Plant was having problems with dewatering sludge. The plant was using a dewatering box for its operation. The sludge was inconsistent and they were only able to run 70 minutes maximum through the box.

AJ Chemical, LLC was called in to help with the problem. After a series of Jar testing and evaluations, a solution was found.

Solution:

The first step was better dilution for the polymer. The plant installed post dilution to target a .3 % make down instead of 1%.

The second step was using our AJ CE 4864B cationic emulsion. The product was fed at 400 ppm as product.

After the changes were made, the box has been working great. The run time has been increased to 105 Minutes instead of 70 minutes. This is a 34% increase in throughput and efficiency.

The cake solids and drainage has been outstanding.

Case History - 1014

Problem:

A southeastern food plant was having problems with loss of condensate in their system. The problem caused increased water treatment cost, higher fuel cost and increased iron levels within the system.

AJ Chemical, LLC was called in to help find a solution. First, a thorough investigation was done of the system and several areas with steam trap problems were found. Also, working together, we found several routine areas where changes in plant procedure helped to save condensate in the system.

Solution:

Before AJ Chemical, LLC was involved; the plant had an average of 45% condensate coming back. Once the changes were made, the plant is now returning 75% condensate.

Because of the condensate increases, the iron levels have come down in the system.

Bacteria Problems with Injection Molding Plant

Problem:

A southeastern Plant was having problems with bacteria growth in a close chill loop system. The problem was causing problems with depletion of chemical levels, which in turn was causing high iron and copper levels due to corrosion.

The slime was also causing problems with heat transfer of the chiller equipment.

Solution:

AJ Chemical, LLC used it’s M-1015 biocide @ 200 ppm and a bio dispersant. After only 3 hours, the bacteria counts in the system were much better.

After 24 hours, chemical levels resumed to normal levels without depletion. At 72 hours, the levels remained good.

Benefit:

The chemical program and service benefited the plant in several ways.
